Overview
Africa must industrialize through the deployment of STEMM. There is need to uncover unique insights into our future and unveil the enormous opportunities that lie ahead of this great continent’s generations to come. African governments, institutions of higher learning (IHL), and industry are far better casting their headlights into the future than concentrating on the past. STEMM subjects are the headlights for this continent’s future. With STEMM, we unlock the power with which to engineer the master code of the jobs of the future.
A critical look at our education system shows that Africa has been held hostage by its system of education. STEMM will grant the continent a breakthrough of a revolutionary magnitude. Countries that have overcome extreme poverty, massive disease burdens, unemployment, political turmoil and social disorientation, have embraced STEMM without excuses.
The difference between yesterday, today and the future is a function of STEMM. Cultures across the globe will not offer any meaningful resistance to change to retain their DNA, not even in the short run as the STEMM revolution conquers this and other planets elsewhere. There is no progression that will escape the clutch of science and technology as the world is fast surrendering to the Internet of Things.
Objectives
The objectives of the STEMM High School are:
- To teach and prepare students for Cambridge GCSE O’ and A’ Levels.
- Increase the number of STEMM learners in SADC and Africa.
- Stimulate interest in Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science & Technical Graphics as foundational pillars of STEMM competences.
- Promote STEMM careers in response to SADC and Africa’s quest for INDUSTRY4.0.
- Launch an exciting and world class television quiz show that pits the best STEMM students.
The STEMM Academy will teach and prepare students for Cambridge GCSE O’ and A’ Level STEMM subjects for students who wish to take STEMM courses in University.
STEMM CHAMPION TELEVISION SHOW
Content Overview
We deliver an exciting and world class television quiz show that pits the best STEMM students in the continent in a challenging contest in a bid to find the smartest – The STEMM Champion.
The driving objectives of the show is to excite viewers and generate a fondness for interest in STEMM subjects. Throughout the show, the competing students are painted in a light that shows them as cool, smart and with a promising future – such positive reinforcement will result in more students aspiring to take up STEMM subjects as well as parents and guardians wishing for their children to take up those subjects.
We believe that promoting STEMM through this type of cultural intervention will change public perceptions cost effectively and will have a wide impact.
A Broad-Based Approach
A compelling television show that grips the nation’s attention presents us with a unique opportunity to influence public perception on a mass scale. The STEMM Champions Show is structured not merely to be a quiz but to offer backstories that create a strong emotional connection with viewers of all ages, not just students interested in STEMM subjects. Viewers will come to a place where they feel they know the contests and are emotionally invested in their success.
In this way we are able to influence even very young children in their perception of STEMM subjects. Similarly, the show’s influence will extend to stakeholders and policymakers even if they only watch the show for its entertainment value. This soft type of influence is possibly more effective than a hard sell encouragement because it relies on entertainment and an emotional connection with the subject matter.
A successful show will see young kids, even those in primary school, aspiring to be the STEMM champion.
Cultivation an Icon
While the runners-up are expected to enjoy modest consolation prizes for their effort, the greater focus and glory will be on the winning student – The STEMM Champion. The STEMM champion could, for example, receive fully paid tuition at Springfield Research University as well as funds to support them for the duration of their studies.
Beyond benefits that directly accrue to the winner, the STEMM champion can also be used in two ways that are beneficial to the wider goal of increasing uptake of STEMM subjects.
